Each conversational style has its own behavioral norms

Thanks to both the OP for posting a thing that so many of us do, and the responder who gave us a better way to do it. Each of these conversational styles works well when the two people conversing have the same style. They feel connected to their interlocutor.

Is it illegal for a 16 year old girl to date a 11 or 13 year old boy?

I texted afterward to say thank you again, and he confirmed that we would have to do something again soon.
