Technology was advancing rapidly. And while hardware prices were declining, a new computer was still a major purchase. Before 1993 our family had a couple of hand-me-down computers. Hardly anyone would consider paying even $1,500 nowadays ($906 in 1993 dollars) for a general use home computer.
